ADA POLICY AND ACCESS PLAN

UNDEAD ARTS is a nonprofit arts organization based in Jersey City, New Jersey. Its mission is to β€œrevive and celebrate dying art forms through bold performances, educational outreach, and creative collaborations.” Undead Arts regularly hosts concerts and events, collaborating with diverse partners to fulfill our mission. We actively promote and assess accessibility across all settings to ensure inclusivity for individuals with disabilities. Our commitment to accessibility is ongoing, as we continuously strive for improvement.

The ADA policy of the Forum (originally adopted in 2025) states:

β€œUndead Arts prohibits discrimination against any employee, applicant for employment, or program participant because of race, color, national or ethnic origin, age, religion, disability, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, veteran status or any other characteristic protected under applicable federal, state, or local law. All personnel responsible for the development and implementation of the organization’s activities are charged to support this effort and to respond promptly and appropriately to any concerns brought to their attention.

Undead Arts is committed to providing equal access and reasonable accommodations for individuals with disabilities. Undead Arts’ immediate goal is the readily achievable integration of individuals with disabilities into its ongoing programs. The organization will continue to plan for improved access to public events, employment, and facilities, and to increase awareness of access issues and practices among staff, board members, and participants

Upon request and with adequate notice, any of the Undead Arts’ printed information may be made available in alternative formats (including digital, Braille and large print). Please contact the Undead Arts at commune@undeadarts.org or (347)220-3022 for further information.”

The statement above will appear on our website, and a truncated version of the full statement may be used on program descriptions, mailings for job openings, and print materials describing Undead Arts programs, if appropriate. This may read along the lines, β€œUpon request, materials can be made available in an alternate format.”

Additionally, the following employment policy is adopted:

Policy

It is Undead Arts policy to employ the best-suited person available for each job. This policy recognizes individual differences and the specific demands of each position. Our employment procedures attempt to identify strengths and skills of potential employees that match the specific requirements of each position.

Non-Discrimination

Undead Arts will provide employment and enforce employment policies and procedures without regard to race, age, color, creed, religion, national origin, marital status, sex, sexual orientation, disability, status in regard to public assistance, or any other classification protected by federal, state, local law. Physical or mental disabilities will be considered only as they may relate to bona fide job requirements. Undead Arts has adopted an ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) Plan, which states our commitment to review annually and evaluate all activities and programs as they may relate to people with disabilities.

Accessibility of Undead Arts Programs

Undead Arts is committed to continuing hiring performers and technicians without regard to race, age, color, religion, national origin, marital status, gender, sexual orientation or disability. Program, performance and event descriptions and application guidelines will be posted on the Undead Arts website and social platforms, which is accessible for those with visual impairments (see below).

Undead Arts is thrilled to support creative artists and organizations through grants and mentorship, fostering a community that reflects the rich diversity of our world and Jersey City. Our mission is to inspire the next generation of music creators, performers, and advocates. By showcasing artists engaged in the classical arts, we highlight the relevance, vitality, and beauty of musical experiences taking place nationwide. Additionally, we aim to elevate voices working on the fringes of the industry. Undead Arts is dedicated to being an inclusive and welcoming space for artists of all racial and gender identities, musical styles, and communities. We consider access on several levels at Undead Arts:

Economic

One often-overlooked example of broad access to the classical arts is often the cost. Undead Arts will always provide a certain number of programmed events and workshops annually for free.

Performance Space

Undead Arts will continue to partner with facilities and locations for all events that are accessible and ADA compliant. Undead Arts will also run a variety of residency, educational and other collaborative programs designed to broaden the reach of classical music. These programs will put musicians and singers directly in contact with communities by collaborating with arts organizations, community groups, hospitals, faith congregations and schools. The resources available at some of these partner organizations may vary greatly, but we will strive to provide an overview of how they can improve their own accessibility to ensure equal access to persons with disabilities. In this way, Undead Arts will serve as a resource to organizations that may not have a history of incorporating accessibility plans into their programming.
